I’m Tony Guthrie, a Cybersecurity Enterprise Architect with over 20 years experience in the IT industry. I started in desktop and network support at a small Internet Service Provider, moved into infrastructure engineering at a Fortune 500 company, and have specialized in cybersecurity for the past 10 years.

I believe that cybersecurity professionals require more than technical prowess to be effective.

Soft skills such as verbal and written communication, presentation, public speaking, and negotiation are critical. From delivering penetration test results to clients to advocating for new technology, standards, or policies, cybersecurity professionals need to be able to relay highly technical information to engineers, developers, IT managers, senior leaders, and non-technical business people in a way that matters to them.
